Field Trip!

Recommended Posts

"Please let this be a normal field trip...."

Name of Event: Field Trip

One Sentence Description: A group of high school/secondary school students, a teacher, and a teacher's aide must survive a tour of the station, with students and angry crew seeking to ruin it - and possibly NT's reputation.

Map Changes: No

Code Changes: No

Suggested Number of Players: 60+

Full Description of Event: A group of students (assorted non-karma races with an age of 17-18), along with their teacher and an aide, arrive on the station via the trader's shuttle - with CC instructing the heads to make their tour as safe and informative as possible. (I suggest the heads picking a trusted member of the crew as a tour guide.)

The tour guide, teacher, and aide's objectives are to keep the students safe, together, and out of trouble. Some (25-40%) of the students will have objectives similar to traitor objectives - stealing an important item, lifting documents, breaking something, etc. - basically encouraged to be greytiding little bastards. This would be similar to the traitor gamemode - but you cannot kill them or jail them for long when found out.

The crew can choose to be helpful or spiteful of the tour, and 1- 4 have objectives to prevent the tour from escaping in one piece, to prevent such a nuisance from happening in the future, or ruin NT's rep. (The crewmembers with this can choose their motive according to their RP prefs.)

Upon completion (or lack thereof) of the tour, CC will either congratulate the crew on a job well done, or threaten some sort of punitive action for causing a total Public Relations nightmare, or for the missing/broken objects.

Stealing important items or other actual capital crimes should probably be out for the students. You don't want to have the security conclude that they are actually Syndicate Infiltrators and perma them. Better make it something like "steal anything shiny you see", giving them more excuses to be greytidy instead of master thieves.

Of course, if they are students, they might also have political objectives. Protest against Nanotrasens human rights abuses. Get the crew to riot.

Just being greyshits in general, yeah. I was just using important shit as an excuse for CC to get especially aggravated.

Though of course to spice it up there could be a single Syndicate Agent masquerading as a student as well.

Not... a fan of the idea of potentially killing "kids" causing trouble on station even if they're 17 or 18, especially with the charged political climate in places such as the U.S.

Maybe if you were to brand it as a rehabilitation field trip for prisoners?

That'd work too. I wasn't really suggesting killing them at all.

That's the problem, though. Think back on past rounds. Has there ever been an admin event where some player didn't immediately try to steal and/or kill it?

The safecracking contest last night didn't have anyone trying to kill him!

Thefts are unavoidable tho.
